A birthday sweater

Posted on

As a birthday gift, Mother-in-Law bought me some very nice wool to knit with, plus a pair of bamboo knitting needles, which are a treat to use.  I decided to make myself a sweater based on a weekend knitting pattern, which is unfortunately not available on the internet.

Hahahahahahah, weekend knitting.  Apparently, you can knit this sweater in a weekend, but only if you’re on the long haul flight to Singapore alone and have nothing else to do.  So, after five weeks of work, here is my creation, which I should say is my first attempt at an article of clothing.

Here’s a detail of the button and moss stitch edging…

The needles were huge, and the sweater is knit horizontally with chunky yarn in three pieces, so it does go quite quickly if you have the time.  I quite like the moss stitch at the edges, and also the way the sleeves roll up.  Though it isn’t perfect, I am fairly satisfied with it.  It will do, as we say, it will do.
